The Cottages
on Stouts Creek and the Cottage at the Low Water Bridge are located 2 miles outside of Ironton, Missouri,
in the beautiful Arcadia Valley, just 80 miles southeast of St.
Louis.
Come experience beautiful Arcadia Valley and its many treasures.
Follow the Braille Trail through Elephant Rock State Park. Meander
through giant pink granite boulders or picnic among the trees.
Fort Davidson, a civil war historical site, has an interesting
visitors center. A diorama that lights up as the soldiers march
toward battle, as well as, a brief film with the history of the
area can be viewed. The Battle of Pilot Knob, a pivotal civil
war battle, is reenacted every three years. Come watch history
unfold in front of you as 12,000 “confederate” troops
surround the fort and its 1200 “union” inhabitants.
The next mega event will be held September 2007.
The Taum Sauk section of the Ozark Trail features the Devil’s
Tollgate, Mina Sauk Falls and the highest point in Missouri, Taum
Sauk Mountain. The terrain is rugged through the St. Francois
Mountains, but will provide solitude and beautiful vistas.
The area surrounding the cottages is plentiful with outdoor recreation
opportunities and is a host to numerous events such as white water
races on the St. Francis River, the Arcadia Valley Mountain Music
Festival and rodeos. Other activities include camping, fishing,
swimming, kayaking, hiking or biking, floating the Black River
using canoes, rafts or tubes.
Other things to do can include relaxing at the cottages. The country
setting provides a peace and quiet not found in the city. Walk
along Stouts Creek, or lay out by the pool. Dine at one of the
many local restaurants that serves country style food or award
winning barbecue. Browse through the unique shops for antiques
and other treasures. Take a romantic carriage ride or take in
a live show featuring bluegrass music and country oldies.
